Abiodun promises rural development — Nigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun assured people residing in the rural areas of the state that his administration will extend the implementation of the project to their localities and ensure that they enjoy real dividends from the democracy.

Abiodun, who gave the assurance yesterday shortly after inspecting Orile Oko Road in Remo North Local Council, following his local government campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the upcoming elections in the council, said his administration would not neglect rural areas because grassroots people remain an integral part of the state.

He noted that the Orile Oko road from Iyankan serves communities that represent the “food basket” of not only Remoland but also Egbaland, as the people are mainly farmers.

He said: “For several years since the establishment of this state, these communities have not experienced any form of such development. They have not benefited from any form of democracy dividend. When I was campaigning, I identified with their plight and promised that when I took office, I would build the road.

The governor, who described the road as a ‘trail’, however, expressed his joy that with the approval of the road construction by the State Executive Council, the communities will have a decent road next year. .

Also at the campaign rally in Isara, Abiodun reiterated his previous warning to deal decisively with anyone involved in worship activities, thus disrupting the peace of the state.

“Our state is the most peaceful in the country. Without peace, no development can take place,” the governor said and we are trying to attract investors to the state and in that sense we will deal with anyone who disturbs the peace of the state.

“We will not only deal ruthlessly with anyone caught disturbing the peace with cult activities, but we will also demolish any house that harbors cultists and prosecute the owner,” he said.

The Governor said 60 projects have so far been executed in Remo North local council, while the contract for the reconstruction of Sagamu-Iperu-Ode Remo road has been awarded.

He added that his administration will complete the model school located in Isara Remo and put it in economic value.

During the campaign rally at the Obafemi-Owode local council, the governor noted that 82 projects had been constructed in the past two years, adding that the Siun-Owode road would be constructed.
