Arunachal Pradesh: Rural Development Trust

The Sri Sri Rural Development Program (SSRDP) – a rural development body aimed at empowering the economically disadvantaged through best practices and environmentally sustainable methods used solar energy technology to electrify remote educational institutions.

It has committed to providing digital literacy in 20 schools, 9 communities and 3 primary health care (PHC) centers in the north eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. These schools have been diligently identified through surveys with particular attention to remote areas without basic amenities.

Additionally, transporting supplies over the steep terrain of Arunachal Pradesh proved to be a daunting challenge. But, despite all the problems that come with pandemics, the SSRDB team worked around the clock to complete the initiative ahead of schedule, and today these schools are equipped with a hybrid solar power system as well as back-up power in the absence of solar power. energy.

More than 2000 young people are currently receiving assistance, the majority of them are members of the tribe. This has opened up a world of opportunities for students to use new teaching aids, computers, and distance learning using the smart classroom.

This is a one-of-a-kind undertaking, given Arunachal Pradesh’s steep terrains and exceptionally difficult pandemic scenarios.

Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Art of Living and Schneider India, which will help electrify 7 additional schools in Aalo district.

Taking to Twitter, the Art of Living confirmed the news. “@SriSriRDP a Solar Electrified and provided digital literacy in 20 schools, 9 villages and 3 PHCs in #Arunachal Pradesh over the past 2 years. The memorandum of understanding between @The art of living and @SchneiderIndia will help electrify 7 additional schools in the Aalo district. @ArunachalCMO @hum4himalayas” – he wrote.
