Countdown to requests for rural development funds

There is still time for rural community groups in the northeast to ask for increased funding from the Rural Communities Ideas in Action Fund (FADN).

Rural community groups can still apply for RCIA funding.

The fund is a £ 1.5million investment from the Scottish Government to encourage and support innovative approaches to community-led local development in rural communities across Scotland.

Two funding streams are available; small grants for projects of up to £ 3,000 and large grants for projects of £ 3,001 to £ 50,000. Funded projects will positively contribute to local people and local priorities, helping rural communities thrive through community-led initiatives.

The results of the RCIA are as follows: Rural communities will have the opportunity to try different approaches to local community development; Groups and organizations not funded by Tranche 1 of the Rural Communities Change Fund will link with the local development sector led by the rural community; Rural groups and organizations will work collectively to bring about positive change in their communities; A body of evidence, ideas and lessons will be gathered to help inform future policies and programs for rural community-led local development.

The closing date is Friday October 8 at noon.
