The EFS Claim Confirmation Service was introduced in 2022 to help new policyholders make accurate claims.
Farmers who accepted a Tranche 5 deal in 2022 and submitted a Year 1 claim this year through the Single Claim Service must submit a claim confirmation online between December 1, 2022 and January 3, 2023 at midnight.
If you do not submit a claim confirmation, you will not be paid and your EFS Tranche 5 agreement will be void.
Claim Confirmations should be submitted online at www.daera-ni.gov.uk/services/daera-online-services.
New EFS Agreement holders must also complete their online training by December 31, 2022. Information on how to complete the online training is available at: https://www.daera-ni.gov. uk/publications/online-training-efs-agreements-guidance-documents.
The EFS offers participants a 5-year contract to deliver a range of environmental metrics and has three tiers.
These are: a higher level, mainly for ecologically designated sites and other priority habitats; a broader level to deliver benefits across the countryside, outside of ecologically designated areas; and a group level to support cooperative action by farmers in specific areas such as a watershed.
The EFS is partly funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). The scheme is voluntary in nature and was established to help farmers and land managers implement environmentally beneficial farming practices on farmland. The objectives of the program are to: restore, preserve and enhance biodiversity; improving water management and quality; reduce soil erosion and improve soil management; promote carbon conservation and sequestration in agriculture and reduce greenhouse gas and ammonia emissions from agriculture.
