Essential collaboration for rural development: Seruiratu – FBC News

Improving the standard of living of our communities requires partnerships and the collaboration of all development actors.

These were the remarks of Minister of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu, at the Saemaul Undong World Leaders Summit in Seoul, Korea yesterday.

According to Seruiratu, development actors from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), faith-based organizations, academic institutions, government and communities need to ensure that they share resources, l expertise and knowledge to achieve this goal.

The Minister adds that in Fiji, the development needs of 44.1% of our rural population, such as water, sanitation and infrastructure, have been supported through the integrated partnership of all development actors.

Seruiratu is accompanied by the deputy secretary of the ministry, Mitieli Cama, and the head of policy and research, Filipe Nayacalevu.

The Summit is a gathering of world leaders, experts, scholars and community coordinators from 45 countries.
