Regional District of Kootenay Boundary also receives $190,000 grant

The Nakusp Ski Club will receive a $699,150 grant to upgrade infrastructure at Summit Lake Ski Resort to improve existing use and develop summer recreational activities for cycling.

Funding comes from the Rural Development Grant Fund, provided by the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development.

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary is also receiving a $190,000 grant to create a long-term economic recovery plan for Lower Columbia, including assessments of underutilized industrial and commercial land, connectivity and service improvements, and a battery recycling center ecosystem development plan.

“We need to make sure that we support rural communities so that jobs and services are there for the people who depend on them during and after difficult times,” said Katrine Conroy, MPP for Kootenay-West. “There is no doubt that climate change and COVID-19 have had a devastating impact on communities across the province, and we are focused on supporting these communities as they recover.

Other grant recipients in this round include Kaslo, Merritt, Princeton, and Powell River.
