Bhawanipatna: Kalahandi, one of the backward areas of Odisha, would be included in the Centre’s new rural development programme, Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY).
This was revealed by Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda during a visit to Kalahandi district on Monday. To further strengthen social protection schemes in backward rural areas, PMAAY will ensure that the programs and schemes of all central government ministries are implemented in close coordination, he said.
Stating that the Center would give all possible support to the state government for the implementation of the programme, Munda asked the central and state officials to meet the beneficiaries during field visits, find the gaps in the process of implementing programs and taking steps to find solutions.
The minister said a total of 740 Ekalavya Vidyalayas are being built across the country and efforts are underway to improve the quality of learning. He also reviewed NITI Aayog’s Aspirational District program.
He met with a community self-help group in Kutia Kondh and visited a public school in Bhatangpadar and inquired about the facilities provided there.
