Governor of Osun State, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola described the series of his engagements with rural communities in the state as a strategic means of integrating rural dwellers into his overall administration.

Oyetola said this effort is part of his determination to bring governance back to the grassroots, which is in tandem with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The governor revealed this through his special advisor for civic engagement, the Honorable Olatunbosun, during a community engagement with some rural communities in the local government area of ​​southwest Ife, in the state.

He stressed that his administration, ready for the sustainable development of the state, could not afford to put all the focus on the center but to maintain a new paradigm of reaching all rural communities for a desirable development outcome. .

He said: “Our administration is aware that sustainable development is that which emanates from the depth of the grassroots and not from the center, as this has prompted the ongoing rural engagement campaign.

“There is no denying that strategic community engagement is a prerequisite for any development effort because it enables people to actively participate in the engineering of development.

“Indeed, effective implementation of policies and projects that help improve sustainability in rural areas requires a strong commitment by reaching out to relevant stakeholders for the collection of data related to the needs and aspirations of the population. , and which would constitute a master plan for corresponding actions of the government ”, he concluded.

In their separate remarks, the chairman of the South Council of Ife de Bale, Chief Kasali Awowole and Ogudu’s Ologudu, Oba Jimoh Ajayi, also stressed the importance of focusing on rural communities for development. sustainable, asserting that true development can only happen at the grassroots.

The traditional leaders also commended Governor Oyetola for his dynamic and unique leadership in the administration of the state, which placed great importance on the lives of the inhabitants of rural communities, noting that his focus on the grassroots is unprecedented in the history of the state.

They did however appreciate the governor for the ongoing construction of new 15km 33KV electricity from the Ile-Ife transmission station to Ofatedo / Garage-Ode and surrounding areas, describing the gesture as one that ends more ten years of darkness in the region. , as well as improves social welfare and economic activities.
