New Delhi: As part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” program, as part of the start-up village entrepreneurship program, 75 community resource persons – Business promotion (CRP-EP) certified after the training are offered to be inducted from October 29 to November 4, 2021 To this end, on November 1, 2021, the Rural Development Secretary interacted with the CRP-EPs from six states – Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and West Bengal. The Additional Secretary (RD), Joint Secretary (RL), Director (RL) and State Mission Director / Chief Executive Officer (SMD / PDG) of these six State Missions for Livelihoods rural (SRLM) also joined the interaction.
While interacting with the CRP-Eps, the Rural Development Secretary highlighted the need to promote group enterprises, link these enterprises to the market and prepare a process / method for an enterprise price model by type of business. business for entrepreneurs. The need for financial education and a link with the Rural Business Bank was also discussed. CRP-Eps were encouraged to support the promotion of businesses in other blocks of their state and to put more effort into linking these businesses to banks.
During the above interaction, CRP-Eps shared their experience of promoting businesses in rural areas under the SVEP program. They also discussed various trainings, capacity building and regular getting started to understand the steps to do business and be successful and also build strong business links for rural businesses.
Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP), the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) sub-program supports self-help group members (SHG) and their family members to create small businesses in the non-agricultural sector.
SVEP is developing an ecosystem for business development in rural areas including the Community Business Fund (CEF) for business financing, the Community Resource People-Business Promotion Framework (CRP-EP) for the provision of business support services which includes the preparation of business plans, training, access to bank loans, etc. and a dedicated block-level center to provide information to entrepreneurs.
CRP-EPs are selected from the community where the program is implemented because they understand the local context and their familiarity with the NRLM ecosystem. The CRP-EPs along with the Block Program Manager (BPM) and Mentor are the key human resources at the block level for program implementation. They play an important role in guiding CBOs on business development, business plan preparation, market links and support for entrepreneurs.
CRP-EPs are trained before they start working with contractors, the training is a mix of classroom and on-the-job training. The total duration is 56 days. Once they have completed training in a component through classroom sessions, they have fieldwork components where they attempt to practice some of the learnings.
