Will secure facilities and jobs to boost rural development: Uttar Pradesh MP CM Keshav Prasad Maurya | Lucknow News

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who also holds the rural development portfolio, is busy and eager to take part in the second round of the Yogi Adityanath government. In an interview with Rajeev Srivastava, he discussed plans for poverty eradication, job creation and village development. Excerpts:
You are in charge of the rural development department in the second term of the Yogi Adityanath government. Is it a challenge?
There is no thrill in life without challenges. Development of villages, eradication of poverty and empowerment of women have been the priority of the dual engine government. I had the opportunity to serve the people of one lakh village across the state. I will try to bring a change in their life and ensure their development. I will try to bring about a rural development revolution. For this, I will sit down with the leaders to discuss the possibilities and prepare a detailed plan.
There is a huge difference between rural and urban infrastructure due to which rural population has to move to cities for employment. How are you going to handle this?
If we work to eradicate poverty and create jobs, the gap can be reduced. If people have opportunities at the village level, they won’t have to move to cities. We will provide all the facilities in the villages and the townspeople will want to move to the villages.
When Narendra Modi took office as Prime Minister, he urged people’s representatives to adopt villages. However, most villages still lack amenities. What are your plans to realize the Prime Minister’s vision?
Since Narendra Modi took office as Prime Minister, the rural development and panchayati raj departments have never faced a shortage of funds. As the Akhilesh Yadav government was in charge until 2017, the money could not reach the villages.
After the BJP formed the UP government, rural development gained momentum. Although not all villages have been developed, the situation has improved. Previously, the villagers lived in thatched huts, but now they have pucca houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, toilets, medical insurance under Ayushman and electricity. All this has changed the standard of living in the villages.
What will your department present in its 100 day action plan?
During the first 100 days, the department will focus on completing outstanding work. The plans for the next six months and a year will certainly show drastic changes towards the well-being of the rural population.
The Lok Sabha elections are only two years away. What will you give to the villages at that time?
The villagers know what the dual engine government has given them so far. No one could have imagined that a village would have both individual and community toilets, but it is now a reality. Electricity and other facilities are available to rich and poor alike. These are revolutionary changes by any means. If we want change, we can do it, otherwise people have seen 60 years of opposition party rule.
Something specific that the villages will receive in two years?
Our one-pointed program is to ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach the last man without corruption or intermediaries. Funds are not lacking at the central and state level. Each gram sabha will have a high-tech nursery that will be run by self-help groups. Previously, villagers had to cough up money for various reasons. The women in the SHGs will not only get expenses for the nurseries, but also make a profit.
What are your other projects ?
Until now, people had heard that large multinational corporations were distributing nutritious food to children and women in the villages. Now, as a model, two self-help groups prepare nutritious food for children. Anganwadi children receive nutritious food.
Will this project be implemented statewide in the future?
Yes. We are increasing it to 202 blocks. These factories will be set up by SHGs and nutritious food will be distributed by women.
Ambedkar villages appeared under Mayawati, Lohia villages were created by Akhilesh government. What are your plans?
The development model of previous governments was based on caste and the vote bank. We have the larger vision of ‘Sabka saath, sabka vikas’. We are developing villages for everyone, for those who supported us and also for those who did not vote for the BJP. a few grams
the sabhas will be developed in the name of Kalyan Singh. Other gram sabhas will also be developed.
